Day 31-32

Well, it happened. I got through making the cupcakes without a single taste. And then I got to my in-laws for the baptism celebration and I wanted to eat everything in sight! I wanted pizza and cookies, and cupcakes, and cheesecake... all of it! I did ok before leaving for mass and the baptism. I was feeling anxious and emotional and now I see how much of that triggers my desire to eat.

When we got back to the house for dessert, I tried all my tricks for avoiding the sweets... and yet I still had a bite of cheesecake and a half a cookie... ugh... so disappointed in myself!

I'm trying to chalk it up to a learning and growing experience. It could have been WAY worse! LOL I could have had an entire piece of cheesecake along with pizza and cupcakes and a plate of cookies... So while I did slip up, it certainly is not going to stop me from trying and continuing on in my new life. :)

I'm a lot more apprehensive about Thanksgiving now... But I'm going to take it one day at a time and one second at a time if I have to!

  1. Amy, it's OK! What huge strides you've made and in that there is victory!
I have an idea to share for Thanksgiving. I am hosting this year but I would do this even if I wasn't. I'm taking a large salad for everyone and I'm putting dried cranberries, slivered almonds, and red onion on it. I'm also going to make collard greens(I just cook them in a little bit of water with some garlic and onion.) I plan to bulk up on these things so I don't eat too much of the other stuff! I haven't thought of what i might make for my "dessert" so I have something to eat while everyone else eats pie. You can do it!!

  2. A bite of cheesecake and half a cookie hardly sounds like failure to me. I'm not sure exactly what method Dr. Oz promotes, but what I just reads leads me to believe you have MONSTER will power. Good job.

  3. You are right it COULD have been the entire piece of cheesecake and the cookie and the pizza but it wasn't and YOU did it. No one else had the control but you. I am finally caught up (after reading for about 45 min) on your journey this far. I am truly inspired. Thank you for sharing and keep up the wonderful job you are doing for your new life.
